General Conditions of Carriage & Tariffs

INTRODUCTION

  • The management of sales procedures in coordination with the Department of Legal Affairs is the primary responsible for reviewing and updating this section which was issued in accordance with the recommendations of the International Air Transport Organization (IATA) No. 1724.
  • Some of the paragraphs were amended according to the executive regulation to protect the rights of customers of the General Authority of Civil Aviation issued on 26/05/1438.
  • Passengers are accepted in accordance with the IATA International Public Transport Conditions (IATA) except for flights to and from the United States of America and Canada.

Agreed stop points Itinerary means the break points shown in the ticket according to the flight schedule regardless of the starting point and ending point of the flight.
Allowable baggage It is the baggage’s weight allowed to be transported without an additional payment.
Automatic ticket (ATB) / boarding pass A ticket of one single non-carbon copy (usually located in the stock of cards), each coupon is printed separately, and each coupon used for air travel consists of:
The flight coupon, the passenger coupon, which can be separated, and the flight boarding pass. One coupon will issued as a passenger receipt.
This receipt along with the passenger coupons, and boarding passes consider as a passenger's copy of the ticket and checked baggage tag.
Baggage Means the passenger personal belongings that are necessary or suitable for wear, use and comfort during the trip. Unless they are specified they will include both checked and non-checked baggage.
Baggage receipt Those parts of the ticket prepared for registered baggage which issue by the carrier as a receipt of the passenger’s registered baggage.
Registered baggage Means the "Checked baggage" that the carrier holds and fully guarantees and under which the carrier issues a baggage receipt or a baggage EMD .
Excess baggage It is the baggage that exceed the free allowable weight and number of baggage.
Baggage card A document issued by the carrier to identify the checked baggage, which affixed to or attached to the checked baggage, and the passenger is given the other part of the card to keep until the baggage is identified.
Bank Settlement Program (BSP) A Program for the issuance of transport documents, accounts and financial settlements between air carriers and travel agents.
Bar code Automatic cryptographic reading system uses different black lines of thickness separated by spaces to read and identify symbols.
transportation Means the transport of passengers and/or baggage by air, whether free or paid
carrier The air carrier issuing the ticket or all carriers who transport or assure to transport the passenger and / or his baggage according to the ticket or to perform any other services related to that air carrier.
The first carrier The co-carrier who uses the first part of the ticket on its flights.
Issuer Carrier Means the carrier that issues the ticket
The last carrier The co-carrier that performs the last part of the transportation in accordance with the Ticket on its flights.
Co-carrier The carrier that performs one or more of the transport operations on its flights under the air waybill or ticket.
Carrier Laws Systems which are declared and published by the carrier and are valid at the time of the ticket issuance, these regulations control the transport of the passenger or baggage and must include all the carrier’s flights.
Control number Is a one-digit number added to the ticket number to validate it
Prices or compound fare Means the formation of a unified price or fare by adding announced partial fares or prices
Conditions of transportation means the terms and conditions established by the carrier With regard to air transport.
Conditions of the contract means the terms and conditions shown on the passenger ticket and the baggage receipt.
Carrier of connected flight means the carrier who takes over the transportation of the passenger and his baggage, Or goods for a flight coming from the point of continuation.
Flight Coupon It is part of the passenger ticket, excess baggage slip or baggage receipt indicating two points (departure and arrival) with validity of the coupon to transport the passenger between them.
Passenger receipt A printed copy of a passenger ticket which is a written evidence of the transport contract, excess baggage slip or baggage receipt.
Damages Partial or total losses, which may arise during  transport or result from certain services provided by the carrier such as (death, injury, delay .....).
Days The full year days including weekends and official holidays.
Document number Is the ticket number or passenger’s EMD, which can be used to identify the passenger's document which includes the carrier's digital code (065) followed by 10-digit serial number.
Endorsement / referral The endorsement and restrictions element is used to specify any air carrier restrictions or observations or the conditions that apply to the E-Ticket and is printed in the Field of endorsement and restrictions with a maximum of 126 characters.
Family members (Parents/wife/spouse/children), legally dependent (brother and sister), and house workers (maid, driver).
Price The amount collected by the carrier for passenger transport and his baggage or for the additional services.
Price for adults The price to be paid for the passenger who is 12 years old.
Price for children The price to be paid for a passenger who is two years old but still under 12 years of age.
Price for infant The price to be paid for the passenger who is under 2 years of age.
Compound price The price that cannot be automatically priced.
Guest class prices The prices set for travel on all categories of the guest class (promotion / economic / distinctive).
Business class prices The prices set for travel on all categories of the business class (economic/distinctive).
First class prices The prices set for travel on all categories of the first class (economic/distinctive).
Combined price Price applied for transportation on two or more carriers.
Normal price The full price of the first class or the guest class services during the price application period.
Prices on a specific carrier A price applied for transportation on a specified carrier
Partial prices Announced prices for use only in combination with other prices for transportation from/to or through a specified point.
Sectors prices The price of one-class travel which is applicable to regular carriers (including individual shared prices) for a sector of the direct route.
Special prices Any price other than the normal prices
Specified price The specified and announced price in the carrier’s tariff.
Direct prices Total price from departure point to arrival point.
Prices for groups flights The price used only for air transportation as part of a comprehensive package flight.
Tourist prices See prices of the guest class
Compound prices A compound price that is formed by installing two or more published prices.
Share Code Flight Means the flight that gives passengers the advantage of direct transport service by two carriers from the point of departure to the end point without changing the aircraft.
EMD A document issued by the carrier or its agent as a claim for a ticket issuance, an excess baggage voucher or other service voucher to the person named on that document or to eligible or dependent family members which prove the passenger's financial right to the air carrier.
Missing a connected flight If the passenger missed the connected flight due to late arrival or because  the original flight did not depart on time as scheduled, or if he has reached the midpoint in the itinerary of the going flight, by alternative flight or by any other transportation mean,  which cause the passenger to miss the next flight.
Citizen The person who hold nationality or identity of a particular country whether by birth or naturalization.
Delay Failure to use services that have been prepared for reasons other than loss of continuity mean from one flight to another
No show Failure of the passenger to catch up with his international , domestic or a connected flight due to lack of attendance at the airport or late arrival.
Passenger Registration PNR Information for each passenger includes all information necessary to complete the booking record process and to be accessible to the carrier as well as to other carriers involved in transportation.
Quotation Sharing a combined price or fees between carriers on agreed basis.
Freight fare Value collected by the carrier or carriers for transporting a particular unit of goods or excess baggage, which is usually announced valid fare, used by the carrier to declare fares and to present them to the public on the basis that they are applicable for transporting the unit of weight, volume and value of goods or excess baggage.
Reconfirm booking The carrier has previously requested passengers to reconfirm their bookings.
Refund Return the value of the partially or totally unused ticket (fare or fees) or EMD to the beneficiary as per the rules and regulations of SAUDIA.
Itinerary Change Changing the destination specified in the travel document (ticket / EMD).
Booking (Reservation) It is synonymous with the term "registration " and means passenger pre-booking, whether for seats or other services.
Resident A person who normally resides in a particular country, whether a citizen or a non-citizen.
Direct line The shortest route connects two points.
Indirect line Any line other than the direct line that connects two points.
Complete flight means itinerary from the starting point (departure) to the endpoint (arrival).
Waiting list passengers Means passengers at the airport with a non-free ticket and without a reservation, waiting for opportunity and willing to accept a seat if available .
Stopover during flight Is a "trip cut" which means that the passenger deliberately stopped over at a point between the starting point (departure) and the end point (arrival) with a prior consent from the carrier
Tariff Means prices, fees and related transport conditions, which are determined and declared by the carrier.
Ticket Means a travel document issued by a carrier or its agencies, includes (passenger name, flight information and contract terms mentioned in SAUDIA website (saudia.com)
Attached ticket It Is a ticket issued for the passenger and attached to a ticket / tickets which are in total a one transport contract.
Excess baggage EMD It is a document or a receipt issued by the carrier for the passenger for excess baggage fees.
Ticket time limit It means a limited time for  passenger to buy a ticket to confirm his reservation as  requested by the carrier to avoid canceling the reservation.
Tourism Group leader A person who leads or accompanies a group of passengers At all stages of the collective trip or part of it.
circular flight It means traveling from one point and return back to the same point by continuous circular flight , provided that if no regular flight service is available between two points, the passenger may travel by any means of transport without prejudice to the status of the round trip.
Round trip A. Travel from one point to another and return by the same route, Whether the international and domestic fare was  similar
B. Travel from one point to another by different air route used at the exit, for which the normal, completed or individual fare is determined

Authorized agent Means the sales agent designated by the carrier to sale tickets on behalf of the carrier, as well as to sale on other carrier's flights if authorized to do so.
Baggage Means baggage, objects and personal things, which are considered necessary or appropriate for wearing, use or suitable for his comfort during flight. includes inspected and non-inspected baggage unless otherwise stated.
Baggage inspection Means the parts of the ticket related to the inspected baggage transport
Baggage identification card Means a document issue by the carrier, only for the purpose of defining inspected baggage.
Carrier Is the air carrier who issues the ticket or all carriers whose transfer or commit to transport the passenger and / or its baggage as per the Ticket or to perform any other services related to that Air Carrier or any of its services.
Carrier systems Means the carrier’s regulations and rules declared through its website and shall be in effect during the date on which the ticket was issued and control the transfer of passengers and / or baggage and shall include any applicable fares.
Inspected baggage Means the baggage that the carrier has examined, received, and issued therefore a receipt for the passenger to claim his baggage
Attached Tickets Means the ticket issued for the passenger attached with another ticket, and both tickets represent one transport contract and are subject to the same conditions
Warsaw Convention Means any of the following conventions which is applicable to the carriage contract :
1-An Agreement to unite some of the international air transport regulations, signed in Warsaw on 12 Oct 1929;
2-Warsaw Convention, amended at The Hague on 28 September 1955;
3-The Warsaw Convention, amended by the Additional Protocol No. 1, published in Montreal on (1975);
4-The Warsaw Convention, amended at The Hague and amended by Additional Protocol No. 2, published in Montreal on (1975)
5-The Warsaw Convention, amended at The Hague and amended by Additional Protocol No. 4, published in Montreal on (1975)
6-Guadalajara Supplementary Convention (1961).
Montreal Convention An Agreement to unite some of the international air transport regulations, signed in issued on 28/05/1999;
Damage Means partial or total losses, Which may occur during transportation or result of certain services provided by the carrier such as (death, injury, delay, etc.)
Days Means calendar days, including all seven days of the week, provided that - for notification purposes - the day on which the notice was sent shall not be counted. For purposes of the validity period, the day on which the ticket was issued or the day on which the flight started shall not be counted.
Flight coupon Means the part of the ticket that holds the term "valid for travel" and clarifies the specific points that entitles the passenger to be transported among themselves.
passenger Means any person (other than the cabin crew) who has been transported or will be transported on an aircraft with the consent of the carrier
Passenger receipt A printed copy of the travel document issued by the carrier or its agents.
Passengers with special needs They are passengers who need special assistance and attention to check-in and boarding.
Stopping It is "trip interruption" which mean that the passenger interrupt his flight intentionally at a point between the starting point (departure) and the endpoint (arrival) with the prior carrier's consent.
Ticket The travel document issued by the carrier or its agents includes (passenger's name, flight information and contract terms......).
Non-inspected baggage The baggage that are carried by the passenger inside the cabin other than the checked baggage.
Care the necessary attention and services that the air carrier must provide for passengers in accordance with the Executive Regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation to protect the customers rights.
Volunteer The passenger who responds to the air carrier’s request to waive his seat voluntarily and accepts the compensation offered to him by the carrier in return for waiving his reserved seat.
Confirmed reservation Is the space required by the passenger from the air carrier on a particular flight at a certain date and class of service, Confirmed by the air carrier with a distinctive sign on the ticket or by any other method used by the air carrier to indicate that the space is reserved for the passenger
Time of departure The specific time for flight departure according to the flight schedule declared by the air carrier
Flight delay Delay of scheduled flight date by the air carrier.
Travel status The presence of the passenger in the Air carrier service zone from the moment of receiving the boarding pass to the moment of leaving the aircraft and receiving baggage.
Force majeure Exceptional event or circumstance that an air carrier cannot expect or predict, and It cannot be avoided by taking all reasonable arrangements necessary to avoid damage or it has been impossible for the air carrier to take such arrangements.
Special Drawing Rights Unit Is the monetary standard of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is converted into the Saudi riyal equivalent.

 

1.2.2 IMPLEMINTATION

General

The conditions apply to the free transport and reduced transport, except where the carrier otherwise requests in its regulations or in contracts, permits and tickets relating to the carrier.

Application Scope of the Implementing Regulations to protect the rights of customers of the General Authority of Civil Aviation:

Without prejudice to the regulations of the international treaties to which the Kingdom is a member of and its amendments, The provisions of these Regulations shall apply.

  1. All SAUDIA flights departing from the Kingdom's airports..
  2. SAUDIA flights to the kingdom, unless the passenger compensated or assisted according to the regulations of the country of departure

Contractual relationship

The contractual relationship between the air carrier and the passenger is established upon the air carrier completion of a confirmed booking ticket issuance. The air carrier shall be responsible for the passenger at the moment of the passenger's presence in the range of the air carrier service, including the travel status

Obligations of passenger

The passenger must committed to the following:

  1. Review the terms and conditions of the contract of carrier referred to on the website of SAUDIA before or after the completion of the booking process and issuing a confirmed ticket.
  2. Disclosure of any special needs of the passenger, if any, prior to the completion of the booking process and the issuance of a confirmed ticket.
  3. Arrive at the airport at the specified time by the air carrier to complete the travel procedures and follow the instructions of the air carrier.
  4. Completion of all official travel documents and requirements such as (travel visas, validity and type of travel document, etc.) and taking into account all government regulations.
  5. The passenger must create his reservation in a correct way and add a correct communication means (mobile number and e-mail) which will be the only approved means of communication.

 

Care support:

In case of passengers boarding deny, cancellation or delay, the air carrier shall provide care and support to passengers at any stage of the trip as follows:

  1. Refreshments and beverages starting at the first hour.
  2. A suitable meal if the delay exceeds 3 hours from the original departure time.
  3. Hotel accommodation and transportation from / to the airport if the delay exceeds 6 hours from the original departure time.

 

1.2.2.1 Transportation from/to the USA and Canada

Transportation from/to the Canada

These conditions apply to transport between points within Canada or between any points in Canada and outside under the applicable tariff (must ensure that the conditions apply to Canada's flights otherwise the United States conditions {DOT} will be applied )

Charter flights

If the transport is made under the charter agreements, these conditions apply only within the limits of the terms of the charter Agreement and the Leased flight ticket.

Law override

in case of a condition referred to in these terms conflict with any substance in decisions of the Warsaw Convention or its amendments or the Montreal Convention, or violate any applicable laws or governmental regulations or orders of requirements which cannot be overridden by agreement of the parties concern, such a condition does not apply, any inapplicable condition will not affect the validity and correctness of other conditions.

Except as stated above, in the event of a conflict between the foregoing conditions and any of the SAUDIA regulations, these conditions shall apply, except where the tariff of the United States of America or Canada is applied. In such cases, such tariff shall be applicable.

 

1.2.3 Tickets

Tickets represents an approved document of the carriage contract between SAUDIA and the passenger named in the ticket as well as some related terms and conditions.

SAUDIA only transport the passenger who has such a ticket, has proof of cash payment or part thereof, or holds any document from another airline issued by the Company or its authorized agent. In all cases, the ticket remains the property of the issuing company.

The terms of the contract described in the ticket are a summary of the terms of these conditions of carriage, all terms and conditions can be displayed at SAUDIA’s website.

 

Important points:

For tickets issuance, a confirmed reservation must be obtained on all itineraries and no tickets issuance are allowed for open bookings.

If the passenger wants to cancel the reservation, an alternative reservation must be made or the ticket will be refunded with collecting of the fees determined by the carrier. The reservation will not be canceled without any action being taken on the ticket.

 

1.2.3.1 Need for ticket:

The passenger will not be allowed to travel on Saudi Arabia unless the passenger presents an electronic ticket valid for travel, issued in accordance with SAUDIA’s regulations and contains the travel coupon for the requested flight and all other unused flight coupons.

1.2.3.2 Loss of tickets:

If the ticket is lost or damaged completely or in part or if no ticket is provided that includes the passenger's coupon and all unused flight coupons, the carrier who issued the ticket can, at the request of the passenger and under the carrier's regulations, change that ticket or part of it by issuing a new ticket upon receipt of proof thereof.

1.2.3.3 Non-transferable ticket from one person to another:

Any ticket submitted to SAUDIA for the purpose of re-issuance shall not be accepted if it is provided by a person other than the passenger (the owner of the ticket) unless an official documents and identification are provided by the same passenger (the owner of the ticket) for the purpose of transferring the ticket to one of the immediate family members according to SAUDIA’s policies and regulations.

1.2.3.4 Validity period:

The ticket is valid for one year from the date traveling or from the date of issuance if a part of the ticket is not used, unless if stated in the ticket or in these conditions or in SAUDIA’s regulations otherwise.

  • Domestic ticket validity is one year from the date of the first coupon in the ticket; the ticket validity will be determined automatically after pricing in a box (not valid after NVA) and can not be changed or refunded after one year.
  • Ticket validity applies to all forms of payment (cash, credit cards, SPAN, SADAD, trade accounts, checks and other forms of payment) except government tickets, involuntary cases or cases that may be excluded from SAUDIA.
  • International tickets issued before 01 June 2016 are valid for one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed according to the SAUDIA’s regulations every year for a period of three years from the date of issue. They can not be renewed, changed or refunded after three years from the date of issue.
  • Starting from 01 June 2016, international tickets are valid for one year from the date of issuance if no part of the ticket is used, or for one year from the date of the first coupon of the ticket (for annual prices) or according to the validity of the price if part of it is used and Can't be dealt with after a year.
  • The validity of the government tickets (international, domestic) which were issued before 14th of May 2023, is three years from the date of the basic issue and must be renewed annually. No action can be taken after three years from the date of issuance.
  • The validity of the government tickets (international, domestic) which were issued on/after 14th of May 2023, is one year only from the original date of issuance.
  • FURSAN’s rewards tickets valid for one year from the date of issuance. Tickets Lose validity and value after this period.
  • The duration of the Royal Court's orders to the end of the financial year in which the order is issued,

 

1.2.3.4.1 Extension of validity period:

  1. If passenger was not allowed to travel during the period of validity of the ticket due to:


    A. Cancellation of the flight booked by the passenger.
    B. Canceling a scheduled point for landing, which is specified to be the breakpoint or the endpoint of the passenger.
    C. Inability to operate a scheduled flight.
    D. Causing passenger to be delayed on a connected flight.
    E. Changing the passenger’s class of service.
    F. inability to provide a pre-booked seat for the passenger.

  2. If the passenger has a ticket but he was denied travel during the validity period of the ticket due to inability of SAUDIA to provide seat on the required flight, the validity of such tickets shall be extended in accordance with Saudi regulations and policies.
  3. When the passenger who started his trip is denied travel during the period of validity of the ticket due to illness, SAUDIA will extend the passenger's ticket validity period (if there is no obstacle in SAUDIA’s regulations applicable to the price paid by the passenger). Until the date on which the passenger becomes able to travel, either under a medical certificate or where seats are available at the appropriate service class for the price paid, When the remaining flight coupons contain one or more stops, the validity of such tickets depends on SAUDIA’s regulations and shall be extended for a period not exceeding three months from the date indicated on the certificate, In such cases, SAUDIA will also extend the validity of the tickets of the immediate family members who escorting patient.
  4. In the case of death of a passenger while traveling, the tickets of the persons escorting the passenger can be amended by waiving the condition of a minimum period of stay, In the case of death of the immediate family members of the passenger who started his trip, the validity of the passenger ticket and immediate family members escorting him can also be amended and any similar amendment must be performed under the submission of the death certificate. (Any extension of the ticket’s validity must not exceed 45 days from the date of death).

 

SAUDIA will exclude the ticket’s validity of such a passenger and the validity will be extended to the first available flight suitable for the passenger with seats on the class of service paid for the ticket.

 

1.2.3.5 Sequence of flight coupons

1.2.3.5.1 SAUDIA relies on the flight coupons only by its sequence from the point of departure as shown in the ticket.

1.2.3.5.2 The ticket will lose validity permanently if the ticket coupon not used in a correct sequence.

1.2.3.5.3 Passenger is not entitled to use, reissue, refund or renew the Ticket. If ticket coupon not used in a correct sequence.

1.2.3.5.4 Each coupon will be accepted for travel on the specified class of service, date and flight booked.

1.2.3.6 Name and address of SAUDIA.

The name of SAUDIA can be abbreviated in the ticket to (SV), and the address of SAUDIA will be the airport from which departure takes place and will appear In front of the first abbreviation of SAUDIA’s name in the carrier check box of the ticket.

 

1.2.4 Stop points

It is permitted to stop at agreed points in accordance with government requirements and SAUDIA’s regulations.

 

1.2.5 fares and fees

GENERAL

Fares apply only for transportation from the departure airport at the starting point to the arrival airport at the end point. fares do not include land transport services between airports, or between airports and lounges within the country unless SAUDIA provides transport service at no additional charge.

Applicable prices

The applicable prices are the prices published by the carrier through its official website or any other authorized means, If not published, they will be installed according to SAUDIA’s regulations. The applicable price of flights should be valid.From the start date of the transport As shown in the first flight coupon.

If the amount collected is different than the applicable price, the passenger.must pay the price difference or, as the case may be, "SAUDIA" will refund the price difference to the passenger according to the regulations of "SAUDIA".

Itineraries

Unless otherwise stated in the SAUDIA regulations, prices apply only to the published Itineraries through the official website or any other authorized means, If there is more than one itinerary at the same price, the passenger can select the itinerary before the ticket issuance, if the itinerary is not selected, SAUDIA will select the itinerary.

 

1.2.6 Taxes and Fees

Any taxes or fees established by any government authority or by any another authority or by the airport operator related to the passenger or his usage of any facilities service will be added to the published prices and fees and must be paid by the passenger, except in cases where otherwise stated in the rules and regulations of "SAUDIA".

1.2.7 Currencies

fares and fees may be paid in any currency accepted by SAUDIA and when payment is made in a currency other than the published price currency, then the payment shall be made according with the exchange rate established by the regulations and rules of SAUDA.

 

1.2.8 Bookings

1.2.8.1 Booking requirements

Booking shall not be confirmed until they are accepted by the carrier or its authorized agent.

1.2.8.2 As stated in the SAUDIA regulations and rules, certain prices may have conditions that specify or exclude the right of a passenger to change or cancel bookings.

1.2.8.3 Passengers are not allowed to make duplicate bookings at the same itinerary in a single ticket, or two separate bookings on a same flight with the same passenger information, if so, SAUDIA has the right to cancel the booking with no liability.

 

1.2.9 Time limit for tickets purchase

If the passenger does not pay the ticket value (or does not make credit arrangements with SAUDIA) before the time specified by SAUDIA to buy the ticket, SAUDIA has the right to cancel the booking with no liability.

personal information

The passenger must know that the personal information given to SAUDIA are for booking and to obtain additional services and to facilitate the operation of the reservation management at the airport for entry procedures and providing this information to the relevant government departments. For these purposes, the passenger authorizes SAUDIA to keep such information and transfer them to its own offices, other carriers or those performing such services in any country.

1.2.10 Passenger seats

SAUDIA does not guarantee any particular seat in the aircraft and the passenger should accept any seat on the class of the service to which the ticket was issued unless otherwise specified.

1.2.11 Pre-paid seat booking:

It is a service offered by SAUDIA on its operating flights for passenger to select a specific seat according to the availability of seats, such as (front row, emergency exits, windows, corridors) for an additional fees specified by SAUDIA when booking and issuing the ticket.

1.2.12 (NO-SHOW) case

In the event that the passenger fails to attend on the time specified by"Saudi " and the necessary amendments to the booking have not been made before the date of travel, the passenger will be charged for NO SHOW or the flight coupon may be subject to closure or confiscation by SAUDIA according to its regulations and the price conditions.

If the boarding pass has been issued and the passenger has not shown up, the ticket coupon will automatically be closed and cannot be refunded with a possibility of refunding the refundable tax according to the international regulations and the conditions of "SAUDIA".

1.2.13 Bookings reconfirmation

Round trip bookings may require confirmation within the specified time period as described in SAUDIA regulation. Failure of reconfirmation may result in cancellation of any booking for (go or return) flights.

1.2.14 Bookings cancelation

If the passenger did not use his reservation and failed to notify SAUDIA, SAUDIA has the right to cancel all remaining itineraries in the booking record and the passenger has no right to claim any compensation for the value of his ticket or the consequent effects.

Completion of travel procedures

The passenger must arrive to the travel procedures office and SAUDIA’s departure gates within enough time before the flight departure time to finish the travel procedures and any government procedures.

The time of attendance should be as specified by SAUDIA. As follow:

  1. Arriving at the airport two hours before scheduled departure for domestic flights.
  2. Arriving at the airport three hours before scheduled departure for international flights.
  3. Closing time of all flights (60 minutes before scheduled departure time).
  4. Closing of the boarding gates for all flights (20 minutes before the scheduled departure time).

If the passenger was unable to arrive to the travel procedures office or SAUDIA’s departure gates or did not have the necessary travel documents and was not ready to travel, SAUDIA has the right to cancel the passenger's reservation and will not delay the flight and will not be liable for the passenger losses or expenses incurred as a result of failure to comply with the provisions of this clause.

 

>1.2.15 Denial of transport

1.2.15.1 Right to denial transfer

SAUDIA may refuse to transport any passenger or baggage for safety reasons, Or if SAUDIA decides to do so"According to its free will "For reasonable reasons, Or if one or some of the following conditions occur or if we believe that they will occur.

1.2.16.1.1 Such action is necessary in order to comply with any applicable law regulations or government orders, or orders of any country or place to be flown from, to or above.

1.2.16.2 passenger's behavior, age or mental or physical condition indicates:

1.2.16.2.1 passenger needs special assistance from SAUDIA.

1.2.16.2.2 passenger causes inconvenience to passengers or makes himself unacceptable to other passengers.

1.2.16.2.3 constitutes a risk of any kind to himself or to other persons or Property.

1.2.16.3 If the passenger committed improper behavior on board of a previous flight and there is a reason to believe that such behavior may be repeated.

1.2.16.4 This procedure is necessary because the passenger failed to comply with SAUDIA regulations or because the passenger refused to undergo inspection.

1.2.16.5 If the passenger transport or his baggage transport may endanger the flight or would affect the safety, health and convenience of other passengers or crew.

1.2.16.6 If the applicable price, fees or taxes to be paid, have not been paid, or the credit arrangement agreed between SAUDIA and the passenger (or the person paying the Ticket Value) has not been complied with.

1.2.16.7 if passenger seek to enter a country through transit in an absence of valid travel documents, If the passenger's travel documents are destroyed during the flight or if the passenger refuses to present the travel documents requested by "SAUDIA".

1.2.16.8 In the event that the Ticket provided by the passenger was illegally acquired or Purchased from a party other than the carrier who issued the ticket or its authorized agent, or has been reported as missing or stolen, or counterfeit ticket. Any coupon to be changed by a carrier other than SAUDIA or its authorized agent or has been ripped off, SAUDIA has the right to retain such ticket.

1.2.16.9 If the person who submitted the ticket is unable to prove that he is the person whose name is written in the ticket, "SAUDIA" has the right to retain such a ticket.

1.2.16.10 In case the passenger does not follow the instructions of "SAUDIA" related to security or safety.

1.2.16.11 If the non-smoking rule is not adhered on board of the aircraft or if unauthorized electronic devices has been used on board.

1.2.16.12 In case of failure to comply with the conditions in clause 1.2.3.5 of the sequence of travel coupons or in the case of providing a ticket issued or changed by a party other than "SAUDIA" or one of its authorized agents.

1.2.16.13 In case the passenger commits or refrains from comply with any of the above-mentioned acts.

 

1.2.16 Special assistance

Acceptance of the transfer of unaccompanied children, people with special needs, pregnant women or patients,may require advance arrangements with the carrier in accordance with carrier regulations.

 

1.2.17 Baggage

Allowable free baggage:

It is permitted to carry some baggage free of charge, subject to the conditions and restrictions of "SAUDIA" mentioned in the ticket, which is available at"SAUDIA" or its authorized agents upon request, and also available on the official website SAUDIA.COM

ZAMZAM Water

  • SAUDIA allows the carriage of Zamzam water included in the checked baggage free of charge, one (5 liters) bottle, for guests travelling from King Abdul-Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Airport in (Medina Almanoura ,MED) only.
  • A 5-litre bottle of zamzam water is counted as part of the allowable checked baggage transported free of charge at domestic/international stations. Extra Zamzam bottle/ bottles shall be considered excess baggage.
  • SAUDIA guests will not be compensated in case zamzam water bottle is lost or delayed at the arrival station, and an alternative bottle of zamzam water will be provided whenever possible.
  • In case the excess weight of Zamzam water has been paid and SAUDIA was unable to provide an alternative zamzam water, the value of the excess baggage can be refunded.

Excess baggage:

Fees are required for baggage exceed the allowable free baggage limit for each individual sector, according to the conditions and restrictions of "SAUDIA" mentioned in the ticket, which is available at "SAUDIA" or its authorized agents upon request, and also available on the official website SAUDIA.COM.

Passenger baggage should not include the following items:

1.2.17.1 Materials that may endanger the aircraft, people or property of the aircraft, Such as those materials specified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or In accordance with the Technical Guidelines for the Safety of Transport of Hazardous Materials by Air, IATA and SAUDIA Hazardous Materials Transport Systems, (More information can be obtained from SAUDIA upon request).

1.2.17.2 Materials that are prohibited to be transported under applicable laws, regulations or special orders in any country from which they are flown, to, from or above.

1.2.17.3 SAUDIA prohibits carrying of any kind of meat or fish, fresh or frozen, within the checked baggage, the guest will not be compensated if such items are discovered in the checked baggage and destroyed by SAUDIA.

1.2.17.4 Materials that SAUDIA considers as unsuitable for transportation, due to their weight, size, or nature, such as breakable or perishable materials.

1.2.17.5 Weapons and ammunition other than those used for hunt and sports are prohibited from being carried as baggage. Weapons and ammunition intended for hunting can be accepted as checked baggage according to SAUDIA regulations. The weapons must be empty and the safety pin should be closed and tightly placed. The ammunition transfer depends on the hazardous materials regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

1.2.17.6 The passenger shall not place in his checked baggage a breakable or perishable materials, money, jewelry, precious metals, silver, important documents, Financial Bonds , other valuables items, business documents, passports, other identification documents, or samples, etc.

1.2.17.7 Archaeological Weapons, swords , cutlery and old tools can be accepted as an checked baggage under SAUDIA regulations but are not allowed to be carried inside the cabin.

1.2.17.8 If any of the materials, whether prohibited or not, has been transported within the checked baggage, The transportation will be subject to the fees, restrictions, liability and other conditions applicable to baggage transportation.

Baggage delay compensation:

The passenger will be compensated for the delayed baggage equivalent to (20) Special Drawing Rights Unit for domestic flights, and (40) Special Drawing Rights Unit for each day of delay for international flights with a maximum of (200) Special Drawing Rights Unit upon receipt of the delayed baggage.

 

1.2.18 The Right of transport refusal

1.2.18.1 SAUDIA may refuse to transport material that is prohibited from being transported within the baggage as mentioned in paragraphs 1.2.18.1 to 1.2.18.7 and It has the right to refuse to transport such material when it is discovered.

1.2.18.2 SAUDIA may refuse to transport any materials due to its size, shape, weight, content, specifications, safety, operation or for other passengers' comfort. A list of unacceptable materials is available upon request.

1.2.18.3 Unless prior arrangements are made with SAUDIA, SAUDIA may transport excess baggage on late flights, SAUDIA is not responsible for the delay in baggage transportation.

1.2.18.4 SAUDIA may refuse to accept the transport of baggage as an checked baggage unless it is properly loaded / packed in suitable bags or containers to ensure that it is safe to be transported through normal care when handling.

 

1.2.19 The Right to inspect

SAUDIA may request personal inspection or baggage inspection for reasons of safety and security. Passenger baggage can also be checked even if passenger is not present to assure that his baggage are not containing any material as described in the previous paragraphs, Or any weapons or ammunition not reported to SAUDIA as mentioned in the above paragraphs. If the passenger does not accept this procedure, SAUDIA may refuse to transport the passenger or his baggage.

 

1.2.20 Checked baggage

1.2.20.1 When handing over the baggage to SAUDIA for registration, SAUDIA will maintain it and a baggage identification card will be issued for each inspected baggage. Note that the electronically checked baggage must be re-checked on the baggage delivery counters to ensure that they comply with SAUDIA regulations related to checked baggage.

1.2.20.2 The checked baggage must carry a passenger information card containing (his name, approved means of communication, or information of another person attached to it).

1.2.20.3 Checked baggage will be transported with the passenger on the same airplane whenever possible unless SAUDIA decides to carry it on its next flight for safety, security or operational reasons.

 

1.2.21 Unchecked baggage

1.2.21.1 SAUDIA may limit the size and weight of baggage that can be carried on board its aircraft. If the maximum limit is not specified, the size of the baggage carried by the passenger on board of the aircraft should be suitable for placing it under the front seat or in the storage compartment of the cabin. Baggage exceed the acceptable weight or size or considered to be unsafe for any reason as per SAUDIA will not be allowed to be carried inside the cabin and can be considered as a checked baggage.

1.2.22 Baggage that Inappropriate to be carried in the cargo compartment such as (Sensitive musical instruments, etc.) will be accepted to be carried inside the aircraft if SAUDIA has been notified in advance and the approval has been obtained. Separate fees may apply for this service.

1.2.23 Receive and handover the checked baggage

1.2.23.1 The passenger is required to pick up his baggage as soon as they are ready to be picked up at the end point or stop point.

1.2.23.2 The only authorized person to receive the baggage is the person holding the baggage identification card that is given to the passenger when checked his baggage. However, the inability to provide the baggage identification card of checked baggage should not prevent the receipt of baggage as long as the baggage has been checked and that it has been defined in other ways

1.2.23.3 If the person who will obtain the baggage cannot provide the checked baggage identification card, SAUDIA will only hand over the baggage to such person if convinced of his right of receiving the baggage by providing proof, and in that case, such person is requested to provide guarantee that SAUDI will not be liable for any loss, damage or expense as a result of the Baggage receiving.

1.2.23.4 Acceptance of baggage by the Baggage identification cardholder without a complaint at the Baggage receiving time is conclusive evidence that the Baggage has been delivered in good condition and in accordance with the terms of the Carriage Contract without any liability on SAUDIA.

1.2.24 Animals

Acceptance of pets transport depends on the agreement of SAUDIA and will be transported according to the following conditions:

1.2.24.1 Be sure that animals (dogs, cats, home birds, other pets) are placed in cages properly and accompanied by medical certificates, valid vaccinations, entry permits and other documents required by countries to be entered or crossed by animals, Such animals can be accepted to be transferred under a prior agreement with "SAUDIA" according to SAUDIA’s Regulations. SAUDIA will not be liable for any animal does not have the necessary documentation for its exit, entry, health certificates and other documents relating to its entry or transit through any country, state or territory.

1.2.24.2 If the animal is accepted within the baggage along with its cage and food, it will not be counted within the limits of the free baggage allowed to be carried but will be considered as an extra baggage and the passenger must pay the applicable fees for transportation.

1.2.24.3 Dogs trained to guide passenger with special needs along with their boxes and food, when accompanied by passengers, this type of dogs will be transported free of charge along with the free baggage allowed according to the regulations of "SAUDIA". (Ground operations).

1.2.24.4 transporting animals are accepted provided that the passenger bear full responsibility, and"SAUDIA" will not be responsible for injury, loss, delay, illness or death of such animal if it is refused to be entered or passed through any country, state or territory.

In case the animals which have confirmed booking and approved by SAUDIA to be transported is not accepted, SAUDIA shall bear the costs of such cancellation not exceeding (300) NUC.

 

1.2.25 Tables and flights cancellations

1.2.25.1 Tables

SAUDIA commit to exert maximum efforts to transport the passenger and his baggage by air in the appropriate manner at the date of travel specified according to the published tables, SAUDIA will inform the passenger if the flight is canceled before departure, depending on the contact information of the passenger in the booking record, If the passenger's contact information is incorrect or the passenger does not respond, SAUDIA will not bear any liability or additional costs as a result of changing flight schedule except what described in the SAUDIA Compensation List.

1.2.25.2 (boarding denied – class downgrade – flights cancelation – flights delay)

If SAUDIA under circumstances beyond its control cancel, delay or reschedule a flight , Or can not provide a reservation that has already been confirmed or can not stop at a point of departure or end point for the passenger, Or has caused the passenger to lose a confirmed connected flight as long as the connected flight is not a separate booking or a separate ticket, SAUDIA in such cases will do the following:

Boarding denied

If SAUDIA rejects any passengers with a confirmed booking ticket due to the unavailability of alternative seats on the same flight, SAUDIA shall immediately:

1.2.25.2.1 1- The passenger shall be transported on the nearest scheduled flight according to the seats available on the same or higher class with no additional costs

1.2.25.2.2 2-Re-install the passenger's itinerary to the end point shown in his ticket or part of it to which the case applies by scheduled flights, by other carrier, or by ground transportation. In the event that the total fare, excess baggage fees and any additional service fees on the new itineraries are higher than the refund value of the ticket or the effected part of the ticket, SAUDIA will not charge the passenger any additional fees.

1.2.25.2.33 3- If the passenger was rejected by SAUDIA and he decides to terminate the contract, SAUDIA commits to return the value of the ticket (unused itinerary) in addition to a compensation equivalent to (100%) of the value of the effected coupon.

4 - Passenger has the right to choose between traveling on another flight of SAUDIA or another carrier, provided that SAUDIA will bear the difference in the cost of transportation if any.

Passenger will not compensate for Boarding denied in the following cases:

  1. The non-compliance with the provisions and regulations of the passenger's obligations referred to in the above- paragraph.
  2. If SAUDIA provides similar air transport within 6 hours of the original departure time.
  3. Cases of force majeure that are beyond the control of "SAUDIA".


1.2.25.2.4
If the passenger was rejected and SAUDIA provides similar air transport within 6 hours of the original departure time and the passenger voluntarily decides to terminate the contract, SAUDIA commit to refund the ticket value according to the involuntary refund paragraph 1,2,28 And shall not assume any responsibilities whatsoever towards the passenger thereafter.

It is permissible for SAUDIA to announce the request of volunteer passenger to waive their seats in exchange for an offer provide to them

  • Class downgrade:
  1. A class downgrade on the same flight shall not be considered a boarding denied.
  2. SAUDIA is committed not to reject any passenger on the flight when alternative seats are available on the same flight at a class lower than the agreed class with the passenger. In this case, the passenger will be informed of the availability of the alternative seats at the lower class and the treatment will be performed according to the following:

    A.If the passenger agreed for class downgrade, he shall be compensated for the price difference between the original class and the downgraded class according to the lowest price on the class that has been downgraded, In addition to compensation equal to (50%) of the price difference between the two classes. This compensation shall not be a substitute for any other compensation or for any damage resulting from the class downgrade.

    B.If the passenger decides to terminate the contract, the value of the ticket (unused itinerary) in addition to compensation equal to (100%) of the value of the affected coupon should be refund. This compensation shall not be a substitute for any other compensation or any damage resulting from the class downgrade.

  • Flight cancellation:

1) International flights

  1. If SAUDIA informed the passenger that the flight has been cancelled 14 days prior to the original travel date, SAUDIA will be exempted from the requirements of supporting care, and in the event that the passenger refuses all the alternatives provided by the SAUDIA , the value of the ticket or unused portion shall be refund, with a compensation equivalent to (100%) From the value of the affected coupon only.
  2. If SAUDIA informed the passenger that the flight is cancelled 14 days to 24 hours of the scheduled time of travel, alternative flights shall be offered to the passenger less than 24 hours prior to the original travel date and the following actions shall be taken:

    A. If the passenger accepts one of the alternatives offered by the SAUDIA and as a result of that the passenger has to stay in a hotel for an additional period until the alternative flight date, SAUDIA will bear the costs of hotel accommodation, meals and transportation to and from the airport for the extra period for each passenger until the new travel date.

    B. If the passenger decided to terminate the contract with SAUDIA due to flight cancellation, SAUDIA will refund the ticket value (unused coupon) in addition to compensation equivalent to (50%) of the value of the affected coupon.

2) Domestic flights

  1. If the SAUDIA informed the passenger that the flight has been cancelled 7 days prior to the original travel date, SAUDIA will be exempted from the supporting care requirements and, in the event that the passenger refused all the alternatives provided by the SAUDIA , the ticket value or unused portion shall be refund, with a compensation equivalent to (100%) of the value of the affected coupon only.
  2. If SAUDIA informed the passenger that the flight is cancelled from 7 days to 24 hours from the scheduled time of travel, alternative flights shall be offered to the passenger less than 24 hours prior to the original travel date and the following actions shall be taken:

    A. If the passenger accepts one of the alternatives offered by the SAUDIA and as a result of that the passenger has to stay in a hotel for an additional period until the alternative flight date, SAUDIA will bear the costs of hotel accommodation, meals and transportation to and from the airport for the extra period for each passenger until the new travel date.

    B.If the passenger decides to terminate the contract with SAUDIA due to flight cancellation, SAUDIA will refund the ticket value (unused coupon) in addition to compensation equivalent to (50%) of the value of the affected coupon.

  3. If SAUDIA informed the passenger that the flight has been cancelled (international or domestic) from 24 hours to 4 hours from the original departure date, and SAUDIA was unable to provide an alternative flight within 6 hours of the original departure time. SAUDIA will refund the value of the ticket (unused coupon) in addition to a compensate of 100% of the value of the affected coupon only, With support care according to the regulations of SAUDIA.
  4. Exception from previous paragraphs, in the event of flights cancellation at airports where there are no other regular and continuous flights on a daily basis, In this case, SAUDIA shall:

    A. Provide an alternative flight on SAUDIA’s flights or on another carrier within a period not exceeding 6 hours from the time of departure of the cancelled flight with care and support for the passenger according to the regulations of SAUDIA.

    B. If the alternative flight exceeds 6 hours from the original departure time, SAUDIA will provide care and support to the passenger according to regulations of SAUDIA.

    C. SAUDIA shall, upon passenger agreement, provide a means of ground transport to his final destination or to the nearest airport from which he may fly to the final destination, SAUDIA will refund the ticket value (unused coupon) in addition to compensation equivalent to (50%) of the value of the affected coupon.

    D. For the two cases mentioned in the above paragraphs (4 / B, 4 / C), If the passenger decided to terminate the contract, SAUDIA will refund the total fare for the entire flight or the remaining part of the flight, in addition to a compensation equivalent to 100% of the value of the affected coupon only.

 

  • Flights delay
  1. In the event of a delay or a possible delay of more than 6 hours from the original departure time, the flight will be treated as a cancelled flight and the flight cancellation regulations above shall be applied.
  2. If the delay is more than 6 hours for the new departure time, SAUDIA will extend the care and support according to its regulations.
  3. If the delay is less than 6 hours, care and support shall be provided according to the above regulations, and the passenger shall not be compensated.
  4. If the flight has been rescheduled and an alternative flight has been provided and the passenger has been informed before or within 14 days of the original departure date, the passenger will not be compensated in the event of rejection of the alternative flight.
  5. The entire ticket value will be refunded without fees if the flight is delayed or advanced on the original departure date.

 

  • Passengers with special needs

If SAUDIA does not provide a suitable flight for the passenger with special needs or can not provide the necessary services, the passenger will be compensated with 200% of the value of the affected coupon only.

 

  • Tickets refund

SAUDIA will refund the tickets value or reissue the tickets without paying any additional fees on the same sector, within 10 working days from the date of SAUDIA’s admission of the passenger’s Right.
 
except for tickets issued for (government or royal) orders or issued by commercial accounts.

1.2.25.2.5 Except in cases where an intentional action or elimination is done resulting in damage or negligence is likely to occur, SAUDIA is not responsible for errors or missing published tables and bulletins or allegations of employees or agents, or representatives of SAUDIA regarding to the dates and times of departure and arrival or operation of any flights.

 

1.2.26 Refunds

Important points

When a passenger who holds a personal Identification document request a ticket refund (personally or by legal authorization) of the unused ticket value or part of it. SAUDIA will respond to the passenger request according to this clause and the applicable rules for prices and tariffs of SAUDIA regulation, and SAUDIA will not be responsible if the ticket is refunded through the official SAUDIA website by a person other than the passenger (the ticket owner) where the passenger must committed to the online refund procedures (protection system) after receiving the verification code sent by SAUDIA to the passenger’s mobile number listed in the booking record.

  • The person entitled to refund the ticket.

1.2.26.1 Except as stated in this item, SAUDIA will have the right to refund the Ticket to the person named in the Ticket or to the person who paid the Ticket Value, if he has the necessary documents to prove his right.

1.2.26.2 If the ticket was paid by a person other than the passenger whose name appears on the ticket, while SAUDIA has stated in the ticket that there are restrictions on refund, SAUDIA will refund the ticket to its owner or under a formal letter of Authorization.

1.2.26.3 except for lost ticket cases, SAUDAI will refund the ticket value only when the ticket number or receipt is presented along with all unused flight coupons.

1.2.26.4 Refunding the ticket to any person showing the ticket's coupon or the ticket's receipt along with all travel coupons that have not been used according to the items 1.2.27.1 or 1.2.27.2, is valid and exempts SAUDIA from liability and any other claim for refund.

 

1.2.27 Involuntary refund

If SAUDIA cancels a flight or can not operate properly according to the schedule or can not stop at a point that was intended to be the end point or stopping point for the passenger or that it could not provide a reserved seat in advance or caused the passenger to miss a confirmed connected flight, in this case the amount of the refund will be as follows:

1.2.27.1 if the ticket is not used, the refund will be equal to the price paid.

1.2.27.2 if part of the ticket is used, the refund shall be whichever is more in the following cases:

1.2.27.3 EITHER the ”GO“ fare (minus the applied discount and fees) from the unscheduled breakpoint to the endpoint or the next breakpoint.

1.2.27.4 OR the difference between the fare paid and the transport fare used.

1.2.28 Voluntary refund

If the passenger desire to refund the ticket for reasons other than those described in the paragraphs of this item , The refund amount will be as shown below:-

1.2.28.1 if the ticket is not used, the refund amount will be equal to the fare paid minus any applicable service charges or cancellation fees.

1.2.28.2 if part of the ticket is used, the refund amount will be equal to the difference between the price paid and the fare applied for transportation between the points on which the ticket was used, Minus any service or cancellation fees according to SAUDIA regulations.

 

1.2.29 Refund of the Lost Tickets

1.2.29.1 If the ticket or part of it is lost, passenger shall have a convincing proof of the lost ticket to get the refund amount with paying of any applicable service fees, provided that:

1.2.29.1.1 If the lost ticket or part of it has not been used or part of its value has not been refund.

1.2.29.1.2 The person who received the ticket refund value must commit to return the refund amount according to the way SAUDIA prefer, In the event of a fraud or the use of the lost ticket or part of it by any person, Or if the value is refunded by someone who had the ticket.

 

1.2.30 The right of ticket refund rejection

1.2.30.1 SAUDIA has the right to reject ticket refund, if the refund request is submitted after the expiration of the ticket specified by the SAUDIA regulations.

1.2.30.2 SAUDIA may refuse to refund the ticket provided to it or to government officials in a country, Unless the passenger provides to SAUDIA proof that he has obtained permission to remain in that country or that he will leave the country by another carrier or by other means of transport.

 

1.2.31 Currency

All tickets refunds cases are subject to government laws and regulations or government transport request (GTR) in the country where the ticket was originally purchased, And the country in which the ticket value is refunded in accordance with the above mentioned regulations, Refunds will be made by the method and currency that was paid upon the ticket purchase, but it is possible to pay the refund amount in another currency according to SAUDIA regulations.

 

1.2.32 who pays the refund amount

Voluntary refund will only be made by the carrier who issued the ticket or its agent if authorized to do so.

 

1.2.33 The behavior of the passenger inside the aircraft

1.2.33.1 if the passenger acted in a way that cause a hazard to the aircraft or any person or the properties of the aircraft or prevent the crew from performing their duties, or refuse to obey the instructions of the crew, or acted in a way that other passengers object,Then SAUDIA will have the right to take the necessary action to stop such behavior including passenger arrest.

1.2.33.2 Passengers in the aircraft are not allowed to operate portable radios, electronic games or transmitters, including games controlled by radio, call devices or any other electronic equipment without SAUDIA permission except for portable recorders, audio devices and pacemakers.

1.2.33.3 Alcoholic Beverages

SAUDIA is strictly prohibit using or carrying alcoholic beverages on board of its aircrafts.

1.2.33.4 Smoking

SAUDIA prohibits smoking on board of all flights, including electronic cigarettes.

 

1.2.34 Arrangements for obtaining additional services from a third party

1.2.34.1 If SAUDIA makes arrangements with any third party to provide any services other than air transportation (such as hotel reservation, car rental) or if SAUDIA issued a ticket or EMD related to transportation or services provided by the third party, SAUDIA will considered as an agent to make such arrangements or to issue a ticket or EMD, The terms and conditions of the third party providing these services shall apply.

1.2.34.2 SAUDIA assumes no responsibility towards the passenger other than what is caused by negligence on its part in making such arrangements.

 

1.2.35 Administrative procedures

General points

The passenger will be responsible for complying with the rules, regulations, orders and travel needs and requirements of the countries to which he travels to, travels from or passing through (transit), In addition to complying with SAUDIA rules and regulations, SAUDIA will not be responsible for providing any assistance or information by any agent or employee to be given to the passenger in respect of obtaining the necessary documents and visas, or following rules, regulations, orders, and requirements whether in writing or by any other means, or the consequences of any passenger's failure to obtain such documents or visas or not comply with laws, regulations, orders, requirements, or instructions.

 

1.2.36 Travel documents

The passenger must provide all exit and entry visas, health certificates and other documents required by the laws, regulations, orders and requirements of the countries concerned, And he must allow SAUDIA to keep a photocopy of the passenger documents. therefore If passenger’s documents are not complete or he does not allow SAUDIA to keep photocopies of his visas, health certificates or other documents, SAUDIA will has the right and does not assume any responsibility to refuse transporting passenger not complying with such laws, regulations, orders and requirements.

 

1.2.37 Deny of entry

The passenger must agree to pay the required fare whenever the government demand SAUDIA to relocate the passenger to the starting point or to any other destination due to the passenger was not allowed to enter the country, Whether that point is a transit point or the endpoint, SAUDIA may be obligated to pay the amounts paid for unused transport or any other amounts belong to the passenger. However, SAUDIA will not pay the amount of the transportation used up to the point where the passenger refused to enter the country or the point of deportation.

 

1.2.38 Passenger's liability towards fines and delay charges

If SAUDIA was requested to pay or deposit a fine or penalty or to meet any expenses due to passenger failure to comply with the laws, regulations, orders, travel requirements and requirements of the place concerned or for not submitting the required documents, In such a case, the passenger will be required to pay any amounts previously paid or deposited by SAUDIA and any other expenses incurred, SAUDIA may also use any payments made and not yet used or any amounts belong to the passenger and still hold by SAUDIA to pay for such expenses.

 

1.2.39 Customs inspection

The passenger must be present when requested for baggage inspection by the customs authorities or any other government official. SAUDIA is not responsible for any loss or damage to the passenger's baggage In the event of failure to comply with those requirements.

The Passenger must not carry any prohibited or restricted items that are not authorized to enter Saudi Arabia and Customs shall have the right to remove locks and open bags and luggage and seize them upon suspicion, provided that the representative of the carrier would be present when opening baggage, With his pledge that if he has something that needs to be recognized by customs, he will admit it at his first arrival station in Saudi Arabia.

 

1.2.40 Security Inspection

The passenger must obey to any security inspection carried out by government officials or customs at the airport or other carriers involved in transportation.

 

1.2.41 Successive carriers

The transportation carried out by several successive carriers with one ticket or a ticket with attached ticket issued thereunder will be considered as a single operation.

 

1.2.42 compensation liability for damages

SAUDIA liability limits are subject to these terms of carriage:

If a trip includes a final destination or a stop in a country other than the country of departure, The Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention may apply to all phases of the trip, including the part within the country of departure or the country of arrival. Such agreements may control and limit the liability of the carrier in case of death, Physical injury, passengers delay and baggage delay, loss, or damage.

1.2.42.1 SAUDIA liability will not exceed the prescribed damages value,and will not be responsible for any indirect damages or any other damages occurred as a result of the main damage.

1.2.42.2 In accordance with the Montreal Convention, the carrier is responsible for proven damage related to death or bodily injury, Legal defenses against liability under the Convention are not applicable for damages less than (100, 113) a special Drawing rights unit SDRU’s or its equivalent in local currency.

1.2.42.3 In accordance with the Montreal Convention, SAUDIA liability for death or bodily injury is limited to an amount not exceeding 16,600 (special Drawing rights unit) SDRU’s in case of death or physical injury if the Hague Protocol of the Convention is applied, Or 8,300 (special Drawing rights unit)SDRU’s if the 1929 Warsaw Convention is applied.

1.2.42.4 SAUDIA bear responsibility only for damages occur on its flights. Therefore the carrier that issues the tickets or inspects the baggage on behalf of another carrier Considered an agent for that carrier. However,the passenger has the right to take appropriate action against the first or last carrier With regard to the inspected baggage.

1.2.43 SAUDIA is liable for checked baggage damages if the damage occurred as a result of negligence and has been proved by passenger and If there is negligence by the passenger as well, SAUDIA will be liable for the combined negligence within the applicable regulation.

1.2.43.1 SAUDIA is not liable for damage to non-checked baggage unless such damage has occurred as a result of the negligence of SAUDIA, and If there is negligence by the passenger as well, SAUDIA liability will be determined in accordance with the applicable regulation for the combined negligence.

1.2.43.2 SAUDIA is not responsible for damage of breakable items, ephemeral, money, jewelry, Precious metals, silverware, negotiating papers, financial bonds, Other valuables items, business documents, passports, other identification documents or samples within passenger's checked baggage.

1.2.43.3 SAUDIA is not liable for passenger injury or baggage damage, if the damage has occurred by any property contained in that passenger's baggage. Any passenger whose property caused injury to another person or damage to the baggage of another person or property of SAUDIA,SAUDIA will have the right to have a compensation for all losses and expenses resulting therefrom.

1.2.43.4 SAUDIA shall not be liable for any damage caused by its conformity with government laws, regulations and requirements or as a result of passenger failure to follow the laws and regulations.

1.2.43.5 If the passenger travel exposes him to risk as a result of his mental or physical condition, SAUDIA shall not be liable for any disease, injury or disability, including death.

1.2.43.6 Any exception or determination of SAUDIA’s liability must be applied and shall be in the interest of agents, employees and representatives of SAUDIA and any person whose aircraft used by SAUDIA and his agents, employees and representatives and the amount which can be compensated from SAUDIA and its agents, employees, representatives and other people in such cases must not exceed the amount clarified within SAUDIA’s liability.

1.2.43.7 SAUDIA liability for loss , damage or delay to passengers luggage ( the passenger is holding travel ticket ) is limited to SDR (1288) ( Special drawing right) , unless the passenger declares the baggage value while checking –in and pay the applicable additional fees . In such case SAUDIA, liability shall not exceed the amount of the declared value. SAUDIA shall be liable for damage to the passenger-checked baggage if the damage occurred on board or at any time the baggage was in custody of SAUDIA, Agents, or Representatives. SAUDIA shall not be liable for any damage due to defects or poor quality of the bags according to the international applicable rules and regulations. SUDIA provides services and compensation for damaged bags claims according to the following order:

  1. In case of total damage to the bag , the compensation shall be :
    • As per the purchase receipt.
    • As per the bag actual market value, or similar brand bag if unable to determine the actual market value.
  2. In case of a major damage to the bag, the compensation shall be:
    • Repair the bag or reimburse the repair invoice.
    • Offer alternative bag or negotiate and agree on fair, reasonable compensation.

SAUDIA shall not be liable for damaged bags in cases of:

  • The damaged bag was accepted on condition that SAUDIA shall not be liable for any damage and limited release tag (LRT) affixed.
  • Minor damage or scratches noticed on the bag.

SAUDIA is not liable for any damage to the un-checked baggage (carry-on baggage), unless such damage caused by SAUDIA, its agents, representatives due to negligence and mistake. SAUDIA shall not be liable for any lost cabin baggage left behind by the guest.

 

1.2.44 For carriers that are parties of the Montreal Convention

For the Special agreement applicable to the transport to and from or at the agreed stopping point in the United States of America (See the applicable tariff in the United States of America).

Special agreement:

  1. For passengers traveling on flights to or from the United States of America, or have a stopover in a place within the United States, The provisions of the Warsaw Convention and the special contracts of carriage set forth in the tariffs applied provide that the liability of certain carriers of the Parties involved in these special transport contracts, For death or bodily injury is in most cases limited to approved damages not exceeding (75,000 US $) per passenger And the liability to this extent is not based on negligence by the carrier. The liability limits of (75,000 US $) include fees and legal procedures, Except if the claim is submitted in a State its laws require a separate judgment of fees and costs of legal proceedings, then the liability limits will be (58,000 US $) excluding fees and legal process costs.
  2. Such carriers in respect of cases of death, injury and other bodily harm to the passenger should not get benefit from defensive advantage set forth in Warsaw Convention item 20 (1).
  3. The names of the carriers and parties associated with the special transport contracts referred to above are available at the ticketing offices of those carriers and can be found upon request.
  4. any carrier sign this agreement and agreed to its regulations will represent itself with regard to transport performed by it and shall not impose any liability on any other carrier in respect of the transport part carried out by that other carrier, and will not assume any responsibility for the transport operation carried out by that other carrier.

 

1.2.45 The time limit for receiving claims and taking action

1.2.45.1 Receiving claims

No action will be taken in the event of checked baggage damage unless the person authorized to receive the baggage submits a claim to the carrier after discovering the damage during a period of seven calendar days at the most from the date of receiving the baggage, In case of delay, the claim shall be submitted within a period of 21 calendar days at the most from the date of receiving the baggage. Any complaint must be in writing and must be sent within the periods specified above.

1.2.45.2 The time limit for taking action

The right of compensation for damage or claim will be waived if no action is taken within two years from the date of arrival at the end point or from the date on which the aircraft was required to arrive or from the date on which the transport was stopped, The time limit calculation is determined by the law of the court that hears the case.

1.2.45.3 Amendment and Waiver

No agent, employee or representative of the carrier has the right to change, modify or waive any of these conditions of carriage.

 

1.2.46 other conditions

Passenger and baggage transport services are also subject to the regulations and other conditions specified or approved by SAUDIA. These regulations, which may vary from time to time, are extremely important, For example but not limited, Unaccompanied children, pregnant women, sick passengers and Restrictions on the use of electronic devices onboard the aircraft , These regulations are available at SAUDIA upon request.
